Projects > Batiquitos Lagoon KEY PROPERTY PURCHASED and PRESERVED, represented buyer (Encinitas and Carlsbad)

LCB has worked with the Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation (BLF)  helping the non-profit organization achieve its goals to preserve and protect the Batiquitos Lagoon, a coastal wetland located 30 miles north of the City of San Diego between the cities of Carlsbad and Encinitas. The 610-acre main lagoon was preserved in the 1980s and is managed by the California Department of Fish and Game as an ecological reserve. LCB has been helping the BLF secure additional properties to buffer the lagoon and improve public access around it. In 2008 LCB acted as BLF’s broker in the purchase of the 18-acre Mitsuuchi property, located at the northeast corner of the lagoon. The $2,400,000 transaction was made possible through a combination of state and federal grants facilitated by LCB on behalf of the BLF. The Batiquitos lagoon and nearby properties offer multiple restoration and mitigation opportunities for sellers of conservation land or those seeking mitigation land.
